Can you describe fear? Fear comes in many strange forms and ideologies. Never the less the Monday night ride which was my early season Nemesis has shown that most things can be conquered or more to the point managed.
Several weeks ago i went out on the Monday night ride, and got dismantled. While physically feeling okay, i succomed to a more than debilitating headache, and for the first time I really wanted to just quite, sell the bike, and sit in my recliner drinking Lager and watching the Star Wars trilogy (episodes 4,5,6) over and over.
Never the less i gutted it out, and made it back with my guide Will, Now to the present day.
Monday i went out with the group, and while still not able to ride a pace of the A riders (yet) I hung with Will and Tara and Sue. Now I had some trepidation even going out for the ride as my last experience left my on my butt, so i swallowed the fear and headed out to the Colonial parking lot and meet up with the group.
So what i didn't realize is the fact that Sue (who also rides a Masi) had wrecked several weeks before, broke two ribs and had a collapsed lung, was back on the bike riding. Holy crap i thought, that is over coming fear.
We did the ride, and got back just as the sun was setting. It was a great ride, and I was impressed on how well Sue rode. Then I thought what a trooper for getting back on the horse after most people would probably hang up the bike after a fall like that.

Fenwick ride
So i took some vacation last week, and is was good. Spent alto of time near the pool with my wife and Daughter, and my Friends Ken and Kelly. We didn't think spending alto of time on the beach with an infant, so the pool worked out well.
During the week i took a couple of rides out into the country side of DE. I never knew that the DE primary industry was chickens. Man are there alto of stinky chicken farms. Anyway to be honest it was hard to get my fat butt out of bed and ride. It always seems that the hardest part is getting on the bike. But once i get on it, then I'm okay.
Check out this link for details for the Fenwick Ride
So even thought the rides out there are relatively flat, the wind gave good resistance training.

Covered Bridge Ride

So over the summer I had broken out the Masi, to see if i could get myself into shape to do the tour de pink with Will. The first test was the Covered Bridge Ride in Lancaster. This ride proved that yes i could ride 65 miles, but not extreamly well. For the first 30 miles I felt really good and rode pretty strong. But after we stopped for lunch i was totally worthless. My legs felt great but I was suffering from a huge headache, most likly induced from riding to hard at the start at not consuming enough fluids. Check out this link for a map and my details of the ride.
The picture above are some of the guys from Ed's Ski and Cycle whom own the coveted masi. I am 1 from the left, and Will and Josh are to my right. The three of us will be doing the Tour de pink.

Welcome
This blog will chronicle my training to complete a 200+ mile cycling trek from NYC to Hershey PA. Yes that right i am gonna ride a bike from Time Square to Hershey Park. Why you ask, well for a couple of reasons. First I need some motivation to get back in shape, and second it is to raise money for the Young Survivor Coalition, and finally i am doing this with some very cool guys from our local shop.
So stop back often and keep up to date on my progress, as well as anecdotal stories, gear reviews, and training ride summaries.
Have a great one.
